Jonesboro

Bobby Joe Garrison, 68, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born at Hayti, Mo., April 22, 1939, to the late Kernard and Retha Garrison. He was a truck driver for Poinsett County and of the Pentecostal belief.

Survivors include three daughters, Connie Brown and husband, James, of Jonesboro, Sharon Brooks and husband, Buddy, of Trumann, and Dianne Burnes of Windfield, Mo.; seven sisters, Betty Platt of Yazoo City, Miss., Bonnie Pulley of Rowlett, Texas, Barbara Womble of Hughes, Shirley Carter of Lake City, Helen Hancock of Jonesboro, Virginia Loven of Lake City, and Peggy Hays of Bono; four brothers, Harold Garrison of Harrisburg, Kenneth Garrison of Hickory Flat and Eddie Garrison of Harrisburg; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Garrison; a granddaughter, Vera Jean Ford Kelly; two sons, Ricky Ford and Harold Ford; and a sister, Mary Sue Smith.

A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial was in the Potters Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto.

Pallbearers were George Motes, Gary Motes, Mark Garrison, Jimmy Smith, Allen Smith and John Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Earl Garrison, Mike Garrison, Jamie Leil and Justin Boyd.
