Leachville

R.D. Jackson, 77, prominent farmer and landowner of Leachville, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007, at his home. Born at Monette, he was the son of the late Dawson and Della Dean Jackson and had lived most of his life in Leachville. Mr. Jackson was a lifelong farmer who along with his wife, Ruby, and sons, Randy and Kenny, grew their small farm into one of the largest family owned operations in the area. He was a former member of the PCA board of directors and the family was formerly honored as Mississippi County Farm Family of the Year. Mr. Jackson was a member of Leachville United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the board of Trustees and the Chancel Choir.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene Finley, Zan Finley and Vance Finley; a sister, Charlene Wells, and his great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Manis Jackson, of the home; two sons, Randy Jackson and his wife, Marsha, of Leachville and Kenny Jackson and his wife, Patty, of Leachville; his daughter, Trenea Tubbs and her husband, Jerry, of Jonesboro; four sisters, Zelma Keith of Leachville, Fern Woodsmall of Paragould, Nadine Weir of St. Louis, and Claudine Sparks of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Randall Jackson, Jessica Jackson Hurst, Kendra Jackson Roddy, Tracey Jackson, Jerred Tubbs, Jace Tubbs, Chad Jackson, Elizabeth Jackson and Jeffrey Tubbs; and seven great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Terry Parrish officiating. Burial was at the Leachville Cemetery.

Grandchildren, including Mark Hurst and JanCole Roddy, will serve as pallbearers.
