Rev. Jerry Leo Flagg, 67 of Manila, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in the Milligan Ridge Community, near Manila, he was the son of the late Leo Archie Flagg and had lived most of his life in Manila.

He was a 1957 graduate of Manila High School and served his country in the U.S. Army. Rev. Flagg was the current pastor of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Blytheville. Other area churches he served include Calvary Baptist and New Harmony Baptist in Manila and New Providence Baptist in the Buckeye Community. Rev. Flagg was also well-known as an accomplished barber, having owned his shop in Manila for many years.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ova Dee Flagg.

He is survived by a son, David Flagg and wife, Sumi, of Hawaii; a daughter, Angelique Brown and her husband, Troy, of Vilonia; his mother, Lula Belle Flagg of Manila; a sister, Betty Storey of Manila; four grandchildren, Tyler Brown, Austyn Brown, Paul Flagg, and David Flagg, II.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Greg Smith of Manila and David Flagg officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
