BIC board hires personnel for after school programs

Buffalo Island Central School Board members filled after school tutorial positions hiring Debbie King, Faith Rolland, Murlene Walker and Lisa Turner from the East campus, and Regina Welch, Patricia Duffel, Tina Fowler, Terrie Selby and Phyllis Moxley from the West campus. Karen McClelland was hired as DIBELS coordinator for the East and West elementary campuses.

Also at the Thursday meeting, board members heard principal reports from each building concerning staffing and assignments, progress towards goals, enrollment numbers, accreditation and AYP status and other items of interest.

Doris Willyerd, District test coordinator, presented both current and historical data for ACT, Benchmark, Iowa and End of Course exams. Willyerd also discussed the use of portfolios for certain categories of students.

The board voted to approve the current classified, certified and student policy handbooks and the current salary schedules.

Bids for banking services were reviewed from Liberty Bank, Southern Bank of Commerce and Heritage Bank. Members voted unanimously to continue using Southern Bank of Commerce.

In other business:

*Dr. Kima Stewart was named Federal coordinator for the District.

*The District intra-school transfer policy was discussed with no action taken.

*Student transfers were approved including Michael Baugh (5) to Manila and Kayla Towell (5) to Jonesboro.

*The 2006-07 annual financial report and proposed budget for 2007-08 were approved.
