Mountain Home

Gladys Carter Hiett, 92, of Mountain Home, formerly of Pocahontas and Leachville, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Care Manor in Mountain Home. Born in the Apt Community near Jonesboro, she lived several years in Leachville and Pocahontas before moving to Mountain Home a few years ago. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Pocahontas.

Ms. Hiett was a member of PEO Sisterhood, Chapter AC of Leachville and was the primary Sunday school class teacher at First Baptist Church of Leachville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.G. and Maude Bennett Carter.

Survivors include her husband, G. Atherton Hiett of Mountain Home; a son, G. Atherton Hiett, Jr. of Little Rock; a daughter, Linda "Mrs. Dong" Breytspraak of Mountain Home; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Dr. Emil Williams officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Don Breytspraak, Jr., Gordon Hiett, III, Brent Chambers and Eric King.
