Jan Ball Gurley, 60, of Blytheville died Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at her home. She was born in Blytheville on Oct. 16, 1946, the daughter of Louis and Lilla Walker Ball. She was a lifelong area resident and an active member of First Baptist Church, where she had served on several committees and was an active supporter of the library.

She was a customer service specialist for Entergy and had been a former secretary for the Gosnell Public School system and the Arkansas Department of Health. She was active in the community, including being an active member and former board member of the Blytheville-Gosnell Area Chamber of Commerce and member of the Beautification Committee. In addition to her chamber work, she was a member of the Blytheville Kiwanis Club.

Her parents and a brother, Stan Ball, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Gurley of the home; her children, Chad Gurley of New York and Tara Gurley of Jonesboro; her brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Ann Ball of Blytheville; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonnie and Calvin Hill of Huntington Beach, Calif., Mary and Charles Turley of Little Rock and Vivian and Burl Mahan of Paris, Tenn.; her sister-in-law, Debbie Ball of Milan, Tenn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Blytheville with Rev. Greg Bowers and Rev. David Ross officiating. Interment was in Dogwood Mausoleum.
