Piggott

Montie Clayton Bowen, 87, of Piggott, formerly of Paragould, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at the Murphy Health and Rehab Center of Piggott. Born in Heber Springs, he was the son of the late Mont and Cora Pruitt Bowen and had been a longtime resident of the Nimmons Community before making his home in Paragould. He was retired from the Whirlpool Corporation in LaPort, Ind., a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and attended the Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Hopper Bowen, in 1999, and a son, Johnnie Bowen, in 1994.

Survivors include his son, Montie Bowen, Jr., of LaPort, Ind.; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville. Burial will be in the Leachville Cemetery. To sign the online guest register log on to www.howardfuneralservice.com.
