Holland, Mo.

Pinnell Stone Capehart, 83, of Holland, Mo., died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville. Born May 21, 1923, in Holland, the son of Noble Henry and Hettie Coleman Capehart, he was a lifelong area resident, retired farmer and agri-businessman, and of the protestant faith. He was a pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Capehart was involved in various community and civic organizations, including serving on the boards of Bank Star of the Bootheel, the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital, and the Production Credit Association. He had a love of flying and served as a flight instructor.

His parents preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Donner Capehart, of the home; two daughters, Renee Dana Capehart of Miami, Fla., and Carrie Capehart Whitten and her husband, Ben, of Germantown, Tenn.; a son, Pinnell Thor Capehart and his wife, Denice, of Armorel; a sister, Ruby Lynn Hudson of Cleveland, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo., with Ben Whitten officiating. Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville was in charge of arrangements.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Steele, Mo., or the Joe Saliba Park in Steele.
