Leachville

Oneal Austin, 76, of Leachville, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at his residence. Born in Senath, Mo., on Oct. 22, 1930, he spent the majority of his life as a farmer in the Northeast Arkansas area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirel Clyth and Hazel Wiser Austin, and two brothers, Berneal Austin and Elden Carl Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Gray Austin of the home; two daughters, Phyllis Jean McElhaney and Amy Lynn Clark, both of Leachville; three brothers, Jerry Don Austin of Monette, Bondail Austin and L.C. Austin, both of Leachville; five sisters, Helen Poe of Monette, Melvadean French of Jonesboro, Jearldean Tuck and Wanda Lowery, both of Valdosta, Ga., and Patricia Smith of Phoenix, Ariz.; and five grandchildren, Lance Oneal Davis, Daniel Kyle Davis, Phillip Shane Harville, all of Leachville, David McElhaney of Jonesboro, and Shawn McElhaney of Conway.

A celebration of his life was held at 11 a.m., Thursday at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Mike Tabor officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery in Leachville.

Active pallbearers were Rodney Robertson, Gene Rogers, Kevin Austin, Kent Armstrong, Kenny Jackson, and Chad Jackson.
