Monette

Paul "Buddy" Guthrie, 82, of Monette died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, in Monette Manor. Born in Manila on Sept. 18, 1924, he was a retired crop duster. He started flying in 1949 in the Manila area. He was an Army and Navy veteran, serving during World War II and Korea, a member of the Abner Blankenship American Legion Post 136 and past member of the Monette Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Guthrie was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and of the Baptist belief.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Paul and Ann Jackson Guthrie.

Survivors include his wife, Ida Lee "Jerri" Guthrie of the home; a son, Robert C. Guthrie and his wife, Juanita, of Mason, Tenn.; two daughters, Sherryl Miller and her husband, Jack, and Sandra Moore and her husband, R.B., both of Lonoke; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Monette Memorial Cemetery with Jerry Reed officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Robin Ashley, Mike Ashley, Claude E. Barnett, Robert Chambers, Bill Craig, Larry Drummond, Larry Rolland, and Johnny Williams. Honorary pallbearers were members of Abner Blankenship American Legion Post 136.
