Paragould

Charles c. Morris, 72, of Paragould, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. He was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Walnut Ridge, to the late Thomas Hayward Morris and Bessie Stella Ruth Wagner Morris. Mr. Morris was a longtime resident of the Oak Grove community and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church of 36 years. He was a self-employed carpenter and was in the construction industry and was retired with 21 years at Emerson Electric of Paragould. Mr. Morris was a former resident of the Manila community and a former member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Virgie Mae Morris, of Paragould; six sons, Jeffrey Morris and wife, Gayle, of Oak Grove, Chris Morris and wife, Victoria, of Paragould, Anthony Morris and wife, Debbie, of New Friendship, Rodney Morris and wife, Jonie, of Oak Grove, Charles Ray Morris and wife, Robin, of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Matthew Bryan Morris and wife, Samantha, of Oak Grove; a brother, Orville "Cotton" Morris of Manila; three sisters, Pat Albright of Manila, Millie Jones of Leesville, La., Janette Morris of Leesville, La.; 27 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Stallings officiating. Burial was at New Friendship Cemetery with Faith Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Morris, Chris Morris, Anthony Morris, Rodney Morris, Charles Ray Morris and Matthew Bryan Morris.
