Basil Freeman, 68, of Manila, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at his home. Born Jan. 19, 1938, in Elmo Ill., the son of Lewis Lee and Ollie Pearl Hatfill Freeman, he was the retired owner/operator of North Arkansas Linens and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila. He was a devoted husband of 44 years and a devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Glover Freeman, of the home; three children and their spouses, Steven and LuAnn Freeman of Beloit, Wis.; Cindy and David Bloom of Manila, and Marcy and Tim Johnson of South Beloit, Ill.; two sisters, Sharon Micheals of Lima, Ohio, and Carolyn Sidwell of Brownstown, Ill.; and eight grandchildren, Christopher, Aaron, Melissa, Seth, Adam, Paige, Grant, and Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Stephen Waggoner officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
