Trumann

Jerry Ray Bland, 62, of Trumann died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was a retired chief of police for the Trumann Police Department, where he served for 25 years. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Chiefs of Police Association, the Fraternal Order of Police and Trumann Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Chambers Bland, of the home; his parents, J.C. and Helen Bland of Lunsford; two daughters, Tammy Douglas and Sherry Roach, both of Trumann; a brother, Mike Bland of Lake City; two sisters, Kathy Householder of Lunsford and Delois Gatewood of Paragould; and five grandchildren, Derick Robinson, Lara Roach, Heath Roach, Brittany Douglas and Emily Roach, all of Trumann.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Friday at Roller-Farmers Union Chapel with Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial was in Pine Log Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Rusher, Shane Blagg, Jerry Foster, Larry Blagg, Gary Henry and Jonathan Skaggs.

Honorary pallbearers were Norman Francis Sr., Norman Francis Jr., Wayne Smith, Al Fisher, Jim Fowler, Alan Bailey, Tim England and Ronnie Harrison.
