Wayne Marshall - Manila

Audrey Wayne Marshal, 76, of Manila, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Monette, he was the son of the late Audrey Lee and Mary Lou Hoskins Marshall and had been a resident of Northeast Arkansas for most of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of Caraway High School and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949 to 1954. He received a B.S. Degree from Arkansas State University and also attended Oklahoma State University, Louisiana State University, and the University of Arkansas. He was a retired school teacher and administrator and had lived in Manila since 1967. He was an avid outdoorsman and artist and was a longtime member of the Manila First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Guindoline Story Marshall, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Lee and Theresa Marshall of Columbus, Ga.; Ronald Edward and Ruth Marshall of Acworth, Ga., Michael Wayne Marshall and his fiancee, Ronda Elliott of Cordova, Tenn.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Sue and David D'Avion of Spring, Texas, Shari Kay and Jeff Wurthman of Mahomet, Ill., and Stephanie Ann and Jason Thompson of Gosnell; a brother, Charles "Bud" Marshall, of Jonesboro; a sister, Patricia Jackson, of Jonesboro; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral service Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall's children served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Jim Ellis, Wade Robertson, Bill Beach, T.A. Brown and Dr. Jeff Cohen.
