Joe Bill Tucker - Manila

Joe Bill Tucker, 86, of Manila, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at his residence. Born in the Sandy Ridge Community, he was the son of the late Tony and Emily Grace Hoover Tucker and had been a longtime Manila area resident where he owned and operated Tucker's Pool Room, a popular recreation center that was known for its food. (Most notably their chili-cheeseburgers.) In the mid-1970's he moved to Salem where he was employed at Baxter Pharmaceutical Labs as a maintenance man. He returned to his Manila home in 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeneva Crow Tucker; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Linda Tucker of Manila and Mike and Joan Tucker of Rogers; a daughter, Polly Adams of Lees Summitt, Mo.; a brother, Melvin Lloyd Tucker of Lopton, Mich.; a sister, Mildred Ann Polman, of Elkhart, Ind.; six grandchildren, Karla Williams, Glenn Ray Adams, Dean Tucker, Ryan Tucker, Angie Ridley, and Alecia McLaughlin; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Craig Russell officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Jimmy Adams, Sonny Ashley, Dennis Farmer, Fred A. Fleeman, Donald Lasater and Dan Gamble. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Robbins, Fred Burks, Bill Crowell, Frank Hamilton and Gary Jolliff.
