Ida Marie Kennett - Leachville

Ida Marie Kennett, 89, of Leachville, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Smithville, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ada Smith Moore, had been a Leachville resident for most of her life and was the widow of Norman Kennett. She was a 1933 graduate of Leachville High school and a longtime member of the Leachville First United Methodist Church where she served in many capacities including church organist and UMYF Director. Mrs. Kennett was the former editor of the Leachville Star, the first female member of the Leachville School Board and was a retired sales representative for Florafax of Leachville. Mrs. Kennett was well known for her volunteer work in he community, including her involvement in the activities at the Melody Theatre.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Sandra Kennett, of Leachville; a daughter, Doris Sain, of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a sister, Dorothy Brynjolfson, of California; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy and Donnie Kennett, a son-in-law, Danny Sain, and a granddaughter, Jackie Sain. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Irene Mitchell, Lucille Pickens, Wilma Jean Thompson and Betty Simmons; and a brother, Alvia Moore.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Leachville with Rev. Donnie Hudson and Rev. Earl Carter officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

Pallbearers were Bill Khouri, Tommy John Kennett, Ron Kennett, Danny Sain, Jr., Rick Sain, Paul Steinborn, Tommy Kennett, Chris Kennett, Dr. Jason Scofield and Dain McDonald.
