Jay VanKirk - Lake City

Jay VanKirk, 59, of Lake City died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at his home. He was born in South Bend, Ind., and had lived most of his life in the Lake City area.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl VanKirk of the home; two sons, Steven VanKirk of Swifton and Chris VanKirk of Davenport, Iowa; his mother, Addie VanKirk of Lake City; three brothers, Gerald VanKirk and John VanKirk, both of Lake City, and Ray VanKirk of Davenport; and two sisters, Pricilla Sokell and Martha Irwin, both of Three Rivers, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his father, James VanKirk, and four brothers.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at Emerson Chapel in Lake City with Raymond Clark officiating and Francis Searcy as eulogist. Burial will follow in Lake City Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers are Odis Finley, Chris VanKirk, Geno VanKirk, Charles VanKirk, Jerry VanKirk and James VanKirk. Honorary pallbearer is Justin Manus.
