Opal Cornish - Monette

Opal Cornish, 88, of Monette, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Craighead Nursing Center. She was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church, and had lived in Jonesboro three years, formerly of Monette.

She is survived by three sisters, Maxine Metts of Phoenix, Ariz., Jo Ann O-Leary of Concord, Mass., and Emma Tripplett of Little Rock; a brother, Ralph Barnett of Draso; three sons, David Cornish of Milton, Fla., Mike Cornish of Benbrook, Texas, and Ricky Cornish of West Plains, Mo.; six daughters, Anna Johnson of Fairdealing, Mo., Loretta Cude of Leachville, Linda Womack of Jonesboro, Pat Cook of Monette, Nona Emmons of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Rita Deggers of Jonesboro; 30 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Cornish, and three sons, Jesse, Gary, and Tommy Cornish; a daughter, Dotie Lula Cornish; a brother and three sisters.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Eddie Dunigan officiating. Burial will be in Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Active pallbearers will be Drew Womack, Derek Womack, Matthew Deggers, Mark Deggers, Mike Cook, David Cornish, and Mike Hamrick.
