James Edwards Bridges, Jr. - Leachville

James Edward Bridges, Jr., 85, of Leachville died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at his home. Born at Bragg City, Mo., he was the son of the late James Edward and Jewell Looney Bridges and had been a Leachville resident since 1941. He was a retired farmer and former employee of the Arkansas State Plant Board, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Baptist.

Survivors include three sons, Ronnie Bridges, Mike Bridges and John Bridges, all of Leachville; three daughters, Mari Hayden of Leachville, Kathy Howell of Jonesboro, and Pam Bridges of LaVernia, Texas; two brothers, Charles Bridges of Marmaduke and Mack Bridges of San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, John David Bridges, Nan Lee Bridges and Hayes Howell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nan Bridges, and a grandson, Paul Wayne Hayden.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Donnie Hudson officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Butch McHaney, Hayes Howell, John David Bridges, Dickie Howell, Ervin Sexton and Joey Robbins.

Honorary pallbearers included R.D. Jackson, Dewayne Haigwood and William Olive.
