Albert "Ray" Davis - Jonesboro

Albert "Ray" Davis, 90, of Jonesboro died Friday, June 17, 2005, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center. Born at Williford, he moved to Bay at the age of nine and was a resident of the Bay and Jonesboro areas most of his life. He was a retired farmer and member of the Church of Christ on Washington Avenue.

Survivors include four daughters, Wilma Hickman of Imboden, Lillian Richardson of Birch Tree, Mo., Alfreda Davis of West Memphis and Loretta Hill of DuQuoin, Ill.; a brother, John N. Davis of Lake City; two sisters, Virginia Gilliam of Harrisburg and Louise Perser of Fort Meade, Fla.; eight grandchildren, Jonna Kincade, Gordon Hickman, Leslie Fowler, Beth Weathers, Susan Hill, Laura Amaral, Brooke Hill and Neil Richardson; eight great-grandchildren; and three chosen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Jane Davis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Newton Davis; two brothers; five sisters; and one granddaughter.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home with Kenneth Gossett and Tony Pulliam officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Robby Cook, Gerald Woodruff, Carroll Hundley, Clyde Gott, Melvin Mink and Fred Horton.

Honorary pallbearers were past and present caregivers at St. Elizabeth's Place.
