Verlon Horner - Jonesboro

Verlon Horner, 70, of Jonesboro died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Rose Skill Care Nursing Center. Born in Manila, he was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University. A longtime businessman in the Jonesboro area, he owned and operated a Texaco station for several years, was affiliated with Frolic Outlet Shoe Stores Inc. and had served in the Arkansas National Guard. He was a member of the Jonesboro Kiwanis Club and a longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Roselyn Horner; a daughter, Rose Havilyn Baker of Jonesboro; a son, Ike Horner of Jonesboro; a sister, Rebecca Fisher of Huntsville, Ala.; a brother, Harold Horner of Paragould; and three grandchildren, Spencer Isaac Horner, Alexandra Semmes Horner and Samuel Goodman Baker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mable Horner.

Private funeral services are scheduled under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
