Hazel Hamilton Kuhn - Searcy

Hazel Hamilton Kuhn, 100, of Searcy, formerly of Caraway, died Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, at Central Arkansas Hospital at Searcy. Born Aug. 7, 1904, in Fredrick, Schuyler County, Ill., she was the daughter of John Wesley and Sylvia Suddeth Hamilton. She was the third child born into this family of eight. She spent her early years in Illinois where she received her education. The family moved to Craighead County and settled near the town of Caraway. Her husband, Robert, moved his family into the town of Caraway in 1930. This remained her home until moving to Searcy in 1996. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church at Caraway.

Survivors include four daughters, Eunice Ashabranner and Opal Wallace, both of Searcy, Hazel Whistle of Mountain Home and Martha Clark of St. Augustine, Fla.; a brother, Ernest Kuhn of Washogual, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Walter Kuhn; a son, John walter Kuhn; a granddaughter, Lana Bakk, and a great-great-grandson, Austin Keith Van Duyn.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home at Jonesboro with Frank Mills officiating. Burial was in the Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesobro.

Active pallbearers were Mack Wallace, Clint Smith, Paul Chatham, Dewight Ballard, Tory Van Duyn and Ed Laurendine.
