Wilma Doris Walton South-Lake City

Wilma Doris Walton South, 77, of Lake City died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at her home. Born at Black Oak, she lived in Piggott until she retired to Lake City. She was a 1944 graduate of Black Oak High School and graduate of Arkansas State University. She worked for the Black Oak Post Office until 1952 and taught elementary school in Piggott for 13 years until 1986. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake City and a member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Ray South of Lake City; three daughters, Dr. Karen Moustafa of Fort Wayne, Ind., Lisa South of Grapevine, Texas, and Susan Chessman of Pine Bluff; and four grandchildren, Mark Kemp of Springfield, Mo., and William, Michelle and Melanie Chessman, all of Pine Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Levi and Nancy Walton, and two brothers.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at Langford-Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Don Miller officiating. Burial was in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Gary Qualls, Teddy Qualls, Kim Barker, Eddy Caldwell, Lynn Smith and Greg James.

Honorary pallbearers included Leo Caldwell, Harold Barker, Vonda Bowers, Charles Bowers and Jackie Williams.
