Joan Jones - Nelsonville

Joan Jones, 68, of Nelsonville, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at the White River Medical Center in Batesville.

She was born Oct. 7, 1935, at Manila to Richard Benjamin and Dovie I. (Forsythe) Oates. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church at Nelsonville.

Survivors include her husband, W.G. Jones, Jr., of the home; two sons, Tim Martin and Jamie Martin, both of Poughkeepsie; a daugther, Carla Medlock of Batesville; her mother, Dovie Oates, of Manila; a brother, Neal Wayne Oates of Manila; two sisters, Bobbie Brucks of Blytheville and Nataline Scott of Jackson, Miss.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew, Kerry Darr.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Lebanon Missionary Baptist Church located at Nelsonville with Brother Phillip Lewallen officiating. Burial was at the Lebanon Cemetery located at Nelsonville. Arrangements were under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
