Melvin Britt - Huffman

Melvin Britt, 66, of the Huffman community died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville.

Born Aug. 6, 1938, in Thayer, Mo., he was the son of the late Jack and Nola Maxwell Britt. He was a self-employed carpet layer and was a lifelong resident of the Huffman community. He was a member and deacon of Mary's Chapel Baptist Church at Huffman.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patsy Nelson Britt of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin Ray Jr. and Susan Britt of Tacoma, Wash., and Greg and Devlin Kaye Britt of the Half Moon Community; a daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Sonny McDaniel of the Huffman Community; seven brothers, Jackie Britt of the Huffman Community, Raymond Britt of Osceola, Clifford Britt, Doyle Britt, and Kenneth Britt, all of Steele, Wendell Britt of Chicago Ridge, Ill., Gene Britt of Fayetteville; a sister, Elzabeth Hall of Tyler, Mo.; one granddaughter, Crystal McDaniel Fondren and her husband, Scott, of Armorel; four grandsons, Clinton McDaniel and his wife, Josey, of Ramstein Germany AB, Michael Britt of Tacoma, Wash., and Justin and Matthew Britt of the Half Moon Community; three great-grandsons, Joseph, Jacob and Jayce Foundren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Rick brothers and Rev. Austin Maxwell officiating. Burial was in Dogwood Cemetery.
