Wayne Dowdy - Jonesboro

Wayne Dowdy, 66, of Jonesboro died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his home.

He was a member of the American Legion, served on the Police Pension Board of Directors, and the Retired Municipal Police Officers Association Board of Directors as trustee. He was a member and past president of the Northeast Arkansas Police Officers Association. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he had served as Sunday School teacher, in the Family Care Ministry, on the Host and Hospitality Committee, and in the Youth Department.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Dowdy, of the home; a daughter, Michelle Dowdy Davis, of Jonesboro; his mother, Pauline McKay, of Jonesboro, and his sister, Marlyin Henry, of Nesbit, Miss.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Central Baptist Church with Brother Mike Martin officiating. Burial was at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Larry Newberry, Sam Noell, Emmanuel Dowdy, Don Bailey, David Marzewski, Bob Smith, Alvis Snider and Rusty Grigsby.

Honorary pallbearers were active and retired Jonesboro police department officers, city water and light employees and the Acts Sunday School Class.
