Amos Norman Cobbs - Paragould

Amos Norman Cobbs, 86, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Leachville, he was retired from the Navy, having served during World War II, and was a retired federal employee, having worked more than 32 years as an assistant traffic manager in Navy Civil Service at Millington Naval Station. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church.

Survivors include two brothers, Lynn Cobbs of Emma, Ky., and Hillis Cobbs of Fort Myers, Fla.; and a sister, Velma Pryor of Paragould.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Suedell Cobbs; his parents, William and Allie Cobbs; a brother; and a sister.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home in Paragould with Greg Addison, Dennis Scudder and Wayne Brightwell officiating. Burial was in Wood's Chapel Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Buford Adams, Joe Reeves, Less Ward, Bob Parks, Bob Morris and Harold Edwards.

Honorary pallbearers were members of his Sunday School Class and the John Robinson Sunday School Class.

The family requests anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the East Side Youth Ministry, Alzheimer's Group or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
