Lavern Hollis - Paragould

Lavern "Granny" Hollis, 89, of Paragould died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at Arkansas Methodist Hospital in Paragould. She was retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken in Paragould. She was a member of Faith Assembly Church in Paragould and had lived in Paragould since 1972, formerly of Childress.

She is survived by her guardians Jeff and Dena Gage of Paragould; a sister, Bonnie King of Egypt; two sister-in-laws, Coryil Sims of Monette and Edwena Hollis of Alabama; two brothers, Charlie Dement of Alburn, Calif., and Donald Dement of Jonesboro; a daughter, Shirley Hollis of Paragould, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norvil "Juper" Hollis, and her parents, Jim and Jewell Dement, and four brothers, Ray Dement, Bobby Dement, Desmond Dement and Alvie Dement.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Dennis Bradley officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Cemetery in Paragould. Arrangements were under the direction of Gregg Fuenral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Curtis Gage, Matthew Gage, Rondal Warner, Larry Clark, Bill Dollar and Melvin Tarplay.
