Mary Gladys Staggs - Jonesboro

Mary Gladys Staggs, 99, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at her home. Born at Mount Pleasant, she moved to Jonesboro in 1945. She was a homemaker, a member of an extension homemakers club and a member of Magnolia road Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Billy M. Staggs of Jonesboro; five daughters, Jean stags of the home; Reba Hook of Lake City, Madge Andrews and Joan Carter, both of Jonesboro, and Mary Lee Manis of Springfield, Mo.; a sister, Muriel Brown of Ozark, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Sandria Gail Staggs Warren, Janna Manis Smallwood, Carol Ann Manis, Gary Hook, Michael Lee Hook, Denise Andrews, Karen Carter, Sherry Carter, Teresa Rutherford Stepp, Renee Rutherford, Mark Rutherford and Timothy Rutherford; 24 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Amos Staggs; her parents; one daughter, Janette Rutherford; a brother, Oran McSpadden; a sister, Velma Perryman; and six grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home Chapel with Drs. Emil Williams and Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mike Hook, Mark Rutherford, Timothy Rutherford, Jeff Harlan, Jason McIntosh, Jamie Hook, Brad Hook, Bryan Hook and Christian Sparten.
