Laurette Marie Hickman - Manila

Laurette Marie Hickman, 79, of Manila died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Mangrum, she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Shirolette Mangrum Wilkerson and had been a longtime Manila area resident. The widow of Melvin Hickman, she was a homemaker and a member of the Buffalo Baptist Church in Caraway.

She is survived by a son, Boyce Hickman, of Wilmington, Ill.; five daughters, Vetta Quackenbush of Nacogdoches, Texas, Shelia Wattigney of Ravenden Springs, Phyllis Curnett of Manila, Meldean Baker of Lake City, and Cindy Riggs of Gosnell; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Shelby Wilkerson and Leon Wilkerson, and a sister, Bea Boswell.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. Larry Pendegraft officiating. Burial was in the Caraway Cemetery.
