Willie Alvin Thompson - Lake City

Willie Alvin Thompson, 63, of Lake City died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born in Lake City on Aug. 28, 1939. He was a member and deacon of Refuge General Baptist Church in Lake City. He had lived in Lake City all of his life and was a supervisor at Singer in Trumann. He served as treasurer of the church building fund and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lake City.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Thompson of the home; a daughter, April Lee Spencer of Lake City; his parents, Dovie and Carroll Gipson of Lake City, and a grandson, Travis Lee Spencer of Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Alvin Thompson.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Refuge General Baptist Church in Lake City with Larry Ward and Earl "Short" Gipson officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park under the direction of Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Harvey Thompson, A.C. Daniel, Pat Bader, Chad Robbins, Jake Gilley, Benny Martin, Dannie McFarland.
