William E. "Bill" Barrett - Caraway

William E. "Bill" Barrett, 78, of Caraway, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Delaware, Ohio, he was a longtime Blytheville resident and a retired salesman for the Krey Packing Co. He was a member of the Blytheville First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Caraway Lions Club. He served in the Navy during World War II and Korean War and was a member of the Sons of the Revolution and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Alpha Lorraine "Larry" Rourke Barrett of Caraway; a son, Richard E. "Rick" Barrett of Mountain Home; four grandchildren, Weston Scrape III, Terrance Lee Scrape, Ashley Jean Jackson and Richard Gann Barrett; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.E. and Eurie Sands Burnett, and a daughter.

The funeral was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family requests that anyone wishing to leave a lasting memorial consider the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis or First United Methodist Church in Blytheville.
