William Clinton Murphree - Leachville

William Clinton Murphree, 78, of Leachville, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born at Pontotoc, Miss., he was the son of the late Clarence and Donia Lancaster Murphree and had been a Leachville resident since 1992. He was a former Chicago resident and was a retired machine operator for Continental Canning Co. He was a member of the Leachville Church of God and was an Army Veteran of World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Juanita Murphree of the home; a son, William Terry Murphree of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Fredie Wilson of Malta, Ill.; two brothers, Leon Murphree of Manila and James Murphree of Pocahontas; two sisters, Corenna Hughes of Bruce, Miss., Mattie Foster of Blue Mountain, Miss.; and five grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Tony Murphree in 1993.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Friday in Howard Funeral Service Chapel at Leachville with Rev. Randy West officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.
