Albert Jackson Long - Manila

Albert Jackson "A.J." Long, 71, of Manila died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his home. Born at Rosie, he was the son of the late John and Lillian Burks Long and had been a Manila area resident for most of his life. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the New Harmony Baptist Church near Manila.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Herrington Long of the home; five daughters, Brenda Wooldridge of Cave City, Sharon Spray of Osceola, Linda Cole of Manila, Tina Foley of Lake City, and Francis Key of Manila; five brothers, Lloyd Long and Otis Long of Leachville, Boyce Long of Manila, Lonnie Long of Mountain Home, and Robbie Long of Western Grove; four sisters, Mary Linda Starnes of Thayer, Mo., Inez Lawrence of Elaine, Ruby Cardet of Everton, and Virginia Collins of Western Grove; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Key.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Allen Quinn officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Terry Brewer, Bill Beach, Johnny Boyd, Freddie Burks, Frank Hamilton, Cecil Browning and Frank Kirby. Honorary pallbearers were Coy Boyd and James Thieme.
