John Wilburn Parrish - Monette

John Wilburn Parrish, 84, of Monette, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at his residence. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church. Born at Guy, Ark., he had lived at Monette most of his life, formerly of Clarksville. He was a retired custodian from Colson Caster Corporation.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline Parrish of the home; two sisters, Clara Hall of Monette and Evelene Akes of Marmaduke; a brother, Firest Parrish of Mountain Home; two sons, Junior Parrish of Clarksville, and Johnny Parrish of Monette; two stepsons, Danny White and Jimmy White, both of Monette; a daughter, Betty Smithee of Clarksville; a stepdaughter, Debbie Porter, of Monette; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Phelps, Rev. Captain Lovell, and Rev. Jerry Thompson officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Connie Cason, Bill Davenport, Franklin Smithee, Leroy Smithee, Robert Chambers and Boyd Davidson.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Blankenship, Bob Hurst, Boots Pitts, Bob Miller, Bert Barlow, O.J. Robertson, Bill Marshall, Doyle Blassingame and Kenneth Richardson.
