Timothy John "Tim" Mathis - Arkadelphia

Timothy John "Tim" Mathis (#52), 19, of Arkadelphia died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001. He was born Nov. 21, 1982 in Hot Springs the son of John Russell "Rusty" and Sandra L. Towell Mathis. He was a student at UCA and a member of the Lake Hamilton Baptist Church. He was an inductee of the Arkansas Chapter National Football Foundation and the College Hall of Fame, a Hooten Scholar athlete and a member of the volunteer coaching staff for the Arkadelphia High School Badgers.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Rusty and Stacey Mathis of Arkadelphia; his mother and step-father, Sandra and Jack Clark of Monette; three sisters, Savannah Mathis, Jessica Clark, both of Monette and Journey Nolen of Arkadelphia; his grandparents, Sonny and Peggy Mathis of Leachville and Pete and Tootsie Towell of Monette; two special friends, Ashley Drake and Brian Grier, both of Arkadelphia.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. today (Tuesday), at the First Baptist Church in Arkadelphia with Dr. Tom Martin officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. Don Wilson officiating. Howard Funeral service of Leachville is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers are Coach John Launius, Coach Jeff McBride, Brian Grier, Richard Morrison, Ryan Walker, Scott Speights, Paul Gehrki and E.J. Jiles. Honorary pallbearers are Josh Rogers, Chase Nowlin, Mac Tatman, Matt Yarbrough, Thomas Saul, Isiah Hookfin, and the Arkadelphia High School Football Team.
