Gosnell dissolves mask mandate

During Tuesday night’s meeting, the Gosnell School Board dissolved the Aug. 26 mask mandate, though school leaders continue to strongly recommend students and staff wear masks. Under the resolution adopted on Oct. 26, the mask mandate will stay dissolved unless student absences related to Covid reach 5 percent or greater of the student population for five consecutive student days. DTF asks to add case coordinator

The Mississippi County Personnel committee heard a request from Bryce Cooke, prosecuting attorney of the 2nd Judicial District Drug Task Force, to fund a full-time case coordinator position for Mississippi County on Oct. 29. Cooke explained that the DTF staff has previously been funded through a grant, however, the grant may not be renewed moving forward. Construction of Blytheville wastewater plant begins

Construction on Blytheville’s new wastewater treatment plant began last Friday. The approximate $9 million investment will move the city into compliance with the Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality and remove fines that have been generated. “The reasoning for the treatment plant came because we were having problems complying with regulations with the ADEQ,” Blytheville Mayor James Sanders said. ...
