Board agrees to close juvenile jail

The Mississippi County Police and Safety Committee voted in favor of closing the juvenile detention center in their Sept. 20 meeting. The closure will go into effect on Oct. 3. “We’ve already talked to Craighead County’s sheriff and he’s agreed to help us as much as he can and Crittenden County also,” Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook said. “If they’re full, then [Daryl] Turner will have to locate another one of the nine facilities to take that person.”...
