To the editor: I am still outraged and disturbed by the killing of George Floyd by the police officer’s knee planted into his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Before I could get through writing about George Floyd -- Breaking News came. Police shot and killed a black man running away from police with his taser. I watched the tape and said to myself, LORD, what is going on, so many black men being killed by police for no sound reason...

Summer has officially arrived

Today is officially the first day of summer but unofficially summer begins when the temperature hits the 90s. During a normal year, most children consider summer’s arrival on the last day of the school year. We have had several days in the 90s so far this year and I know we will have more ahead in July and August. Summer will be around until Sept. 22, the last day of summer this year. As a rule September can be hot or it can be cool or in Northeast Arkansas it can be both on the same day...
