Mississippi County Sheriff Dale Cook, first elected in 2010, says he wants another term to continue working on the five goals that he set when entering the office. Those goals include concentrating on illegal drugs and thefts in the county, improved officer safety, jail repairs, improved quality of service for the citizens of Mississippi County, and a successful student resource officer (SRO) program...

I want to take this opportunity to thank the citizens of Blytheville for getting out and voting during this last special election. I also want to thank the City Council for allowing the measure to be brought before the people for a vote. I recognize that some hard lines were taken when it came to the support or non-support of the proposed tax, but I want to assure the people of Blytheville that we are all wanting the same thing...for Blytheville to prosper...

I start by applauding the Mayor's office for including more people in the budgeting process than was originally anticipated. This includes input from the City Council and, if rumor holds true, by some groups in the business community. Sometimes more heads really are better than just one...

It's been quite a year of football in Mississippi County. It's probably been the most entertaining year in my nine years of covering football around this area. I can't think of a year that's had as many good teams playing at once. All five teams in Mississippi County are playing postseason games this Friday night. That's definitely a first...
