Quilters meet (Community News ~ 12/26/14)
The Plain and Fancy Quilters Club held its monthly meeting Dec. 2 at the Blytheville Public Library. A poem written by Barb McGill titled "Twas The Night Before Company" was brought and read by Louie Franks. Everyone enjoyed it very much. The secretary called the roll with 12 members answering the question "Do you press your seam allowances open or both pressed to one side?"... -
County Farm Bureau honored (Community News ~ 12/26/14)
John Tipton (center), president of Mississippi County Farm Bureau, was honored for the county's work over the past year at the 80th Arkansas Farm Bureau annual convention Dec. 4 in Hot Springs. Presenting the award were Randy Veach (left) and Rich Hillman, president and vice president, respectively, of Arkansas Farm Bureau. I'm not sure that there is an appropriate way to say thanks to thousands of people, or that this is an appropriate way to do so. Perhaps our good editor will allow me to use this forum for that purpose. At the age of 30, with the blessing and strong support of my wife, Laurie, I returned to school to seek a law degree in pursuit of my longtime dream of being a lawyer. After graduating from law school, Laurie and I chose to return home to Mississippi County to live, work and raise our family...
