Ronald William Maple, 70, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Hiram "Sharkey" Priddy, 83, of the Yarbro community, passed from this life on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at his home in Yarbro.

Lola Joyce Robins, 71, of Lake City, widow of Jerry Mac Robins, passed from this life Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Judith Karen Wood, 66, of Blytheville, passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, in Blytheville.

Here we are in the second full week of advent, and the worship opportunities are almost endless.

Irene Burk, an employee of Blytheville High School, was given a special recognition during the Lights of the Delta Pageant. She was honored for her loyalty and assistance as a volunteer of the pageant ever since the Lights of the Delta Pageant began. Most school employees take off during the school break, but she has been a constant to make sure that everything out the high school is prepared for visitors from all over the state. Hollis is a real sweetheart who weighs 25 pounds. He enjoys dogs and children so he will make a perfect family companion. He is at the Blytheville Humane Society shelter which is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1-5 and Sunday from 2-5. Hollis (Weimaraner mix), Sally (black Lab), Georgie (black Pug mix) and Reese (golden Mountain Cur) had a great time at Petco. ...

Former Mississippi County Quorum Court Justice, the late Hattie Middlebrook, will be replaced by an appointment by the governor's office, though recommendations will be taken from the county judge and the Quorum Court itself.

A crowd was on hand Monday night at the historic Greyhound Bus Station for Main Street Blytheville's Christmas open house. Numerous representatives from the downtown area, as well as the local business community were on hand for the event.
