Connealy won't run Blytheville City Councilwoman Shirley Connealy said she will not run for re-election this year. Connealy is the Ward 2, Position 2 representative. "I will not be running this time or any other time," Connealy said. "My family thinks it is time to quit. They need new people with new ideas." Along with Connealy's seat, Carol White's Ward 1, Position 2 seat, and R.L. Jones' Ward 3, Position 2 post are up for election. Neither White nor Jones have made public their intentions. More charges in Bobo case

A second person has been charged in last week's shooting death of 20-year-old Wendell Bobo Jr. of Blytheville, according to Blytheville Police. On Tuesday, Clarence Kelly Jr., 18 of, Blytheville, was arrested for his participation in the incident. Students at Blytheville and Osceola high schools will face higher requirements to qualify for the new lottery-funded Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship, following a report on grade inflation from the Arkansas Department of Education.
